Radical Dining Society invites you to its first dinner King Navarre’s Game which will start at 7.30pm for 8pm on Tuesday January 31st 2012 at a fabulous secret central London location that will be revealed to you the day before. We have planned a mid-winter feast or « ripaille » inspired by the spirit of South West France. Epicurean treats such as foie gras, game and Armagnac are on the menu to delight you.
The Chefs
Jérôme and Christine Navarre, owners of Chez Navarre and Chez Pham in Toulouse, winners of the Fooding Prizes for the Meilleure Ripaille and Meilleur petit luxe are coming to London specially for our inaugural dinner. After receiving glowing reviews in Bon Appetit, amongst other gastro journals, Chez Navarre and Chez Pham are now main destinations in Toulouse for food-lovers. For this exceptional occasion, Jérôme and Christine are going to fuse their traditions, Gascon and Vietnamease, to bring out the best of high quality terroir produce for a unique four course dinner.
The Wine
André Lurton’s famous wines, from Pessac-Léognan in the Bordeaux area will be the perfect accompaniment to this feast. You will be tasting Château Bonnet white 2011, Château Couhins-Lurton white 2007, Château de Rochemorin red 2006, Château La Louvière red 2008.
The Innovation
For the first time in the UK we are introducing a revolutionary new wine glass called Hélicium, invented by Arnaud Baratte, winner of Le prix Janus de l’industrie 2010. Inspired by wind turbines, the glass has small internal propellor blades which enhance aromas and eliminate the need for a decanter. As you gently turn it, the asymmetrical blades and the dome at the bottom of the glass ensure a optimal fluidity and oxygenation of the wine. You will be able to test the Hélicium at the dinner.
The Artists
For our dinner Vincent Lacotte has created a game of visual dominos taken from his latest series Journal d’une brigade which was shot in the kitchen of Chez Navarre. Vincent’s photographs have a sociological edge while his sensitive eye always searches to enhance the poetic element of everyday life’s trivial surface.
Nina Farrell will be displaying feather arrangements specially crafted for our dinner as part of her forthcoming project the Wing Assignment, in which she is inviting artists of all disciplines to create an artwork inspired by or using real bird’s wings.
Styling
Table decoration will be beautifully executed by interior designer Maila Reeves.
